5 Things You Didn’t Know About Honey

Honey is an incredible face cleanser.

It leaves my skin feeling baby-soft, and my only problem is that it almost always gets in my hair, no matter how i apply it. We always have at least 1 or 2 large containers of honey in the house, not only for beauty routines but mostly for cooking and eating.

2. Never refrigerate honey.

Slightly warmed honey is easier to measure out and mix. For ultimate convenience, honey powder is a fantastic choice for baking and daily use.

3. Replace sugar with honey

All you healthy freaks out there who want to replace sugar with honey… yes you can! simply substitute 2/3 to 3/4 cup of honey per cup of sugar, and decrease the amount of liquids by 1/4 cup per cup of honey used.  Be sure to stir the mixture thoroughly. Lower the baking temperature by 25 degrees. Watch the baking time carefully since foods brown quicker when honey is used.

4. Honey can rehydrate you

For a great and resourceful rehydration beverage combines 1/2 c. honey, 1/2 t. salt, 2 c. orange juice, and 5 1/2 c. water. Be sure to use lukewarm water to assist the honey dissolve faster, then cool.

5. Honeybees are the only insect that produces food for humans!

1. Bees have been known to produce blue and green honey

2. It can be bought in a crystal form. When rehydrated, it can be used as liquid honey.

4. An African native bird called the Honeyguide finds and feeds on raw honey. The Honeyguide becomes very chatty when it finds a beehive, making it possible for people to retrieve honey themselves.
